Ominis is both of their friends but it’s a little complicated 😅 ofc Ominis would be conflicted cuz of the dark arts stuff yk still he doesn’t hate either of them. Daniel and Ominis had a very rocky start, in the end they respect each other on their own choices and views. Ominis separates Daniel from Sebastian’s actions, so he isn’t angry at him for whatever happened with the relic and Solomon etc. (even if he lowkey enabled Sebastian 😰)

I like to think that Omini would take on the role of the “responsible one” in the group when they’re together, while Sebastian is the one coming up with the crazy ideas and Daniel is like “ok!!!”. He’s still closer to Sebastian than to Daniel just bc of how long they’ve known each other but yah they’re all good friends and hang out yay !!! 😙

Alright let’s talk about the fandom. Seriously.

Immaturity and bad takes are impossible to avoid since this is literally a book for pre to post teens, a lot of older people either love or grew up with it, but have left because of the loud majority of minors. This post is mostly for those younger people, so keep that in mind.

I’ll just say this real quick, if you’re 12 and under. Get off, it’s truly for your own safety you shouldn’t even be online, be patient and wait, it will be worth it I promise. Young minds should definitely NOT be interacting with this fandom at all.

These books and the fandom means a lot to me, and to see it on fire breaks my heart, so here I propose some temporary solutions and suggestions:

Draw people’s ocs! No matter how off cannon or op they may be, this fandom is full of children and a little kindness can go a long way

Encourage nuance, I know it’s not our job to parent the kids who are left abandoned on the internet, but I think it’s important to understand where these kids are coming from. Learning is hard for some but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be held accountable for your actions. Differing opinions might be trivial to some who grew up in an echo chamber of the same views as them, so take a mindful approach of sharing new ideas, don’t just say “This idea is correct and because you don’t think it is you’re wrong”.

Positivity and kindness. This one is very important, you need to listen to one another and give everyone a chance to speak, there are so many diverse people across the fandom and we all just want to enjoy our dragons. Ruining the fun by harassing innocent people is not okay, relax a bit and step back, this is all just a series about a fictional species with rules that can be easily bent for fan content, everyone is having fun together, and you can either watch, partake, or ruin it.

I think that’s all I have to say for now, I just love psychology and growing minds are fascinating to me, I love children with all of my heart (not like that) and it’s upsetting to see them fighting with each other or getting dog piled by older people! Please, this fandom has to be way more mindful of it wants to continue, minors in fandoms are unavoidable but you can easily make 16-18+ servers or groups.

With that being said, I genuinely love you all and I wish to see this thrive, continue doing your art, your writing, or whatever the hell you do, I’ve seen so much amazing mixed media projects about these dragons and it makes me so happy that people are sharing this stuff with the world. I love you artists, fellow fandom siblings, and to all else who reads this, have a good day/night 💖

Hi! My name is Pax and I’m receiving hate messages since I started posting art of my favorite character from Blue Exorcist.

At first it was only on twitter. I started posting around a year ago and then people sent me messages like how they hate Arthur. I wasn’t used to be part of a fandom so I thought it was kinda normal. I just blocked the people and yes it became calmer after that. Then it started on tumblr too. I love to get questions where I can draw something in return but I also got anon questions that are just rude or weird. Luckily you can block anons too but somehow they always come back to me after a small amount of time and tbh idk what I do wrong.

I am ignoring, deleting and blocking those all the time. Don’t get me wrong I really don’t care much but saying stuff like I’m a pedo is WRONG just because I have a child OC. I’ve never drawn him in any romantic way and I’ll never do. I don’t even think about that. Why should I? OCs are often like own children and my oc Kingo is like my own son. He was originally created for a roleplay where Arthur decided to adopt him after a lot of things happened to him. They are only father and son and they love each other because Arthur is trying to be a really good dad like he always trying to do his best with no matter what he do. The point is Kingo became my OC after I got the diagnosis that I’d never be able to get own children after trying it for 4 years. It was my dream even if a lot of people couldn’t imagine how important it can be for a woman who really wants this. I build a house where everything should be safe for my future child. Getting this result of all my tests and my health conditions was a shock I’ll never get fully over it even if I pretend. My relationship broke after 8 years and I never felt so useless.

This is the reason why I created my OC Kingo. Not because I am a pedo or something wtf. It was because I found consolation in having a fictional son and that he has a family that cares about him. Thats why Kingo will always be a very special OC and I get very emotional when it comes to him.

Feedback on my art is okay, but please base it around my hyperfixations. What I mean by that is if I just so happen to mischaracterize a specific character or something like that, you can inform me otherwise. But please be respectful about it instead of going like " [INSERT CHARACTER] DOESNT DO THAT!" or "Girl have you not watched the series/show or smt 💀", I'm not aware of my own actions sometimes 😞

! MAGIC ANONS & LIMITS !

-Magic Anons: You can make a bunch of Mice or something spawn out of nowhere, or *briefly* make a character impulsively do something random, (as long as it isn’t against one of the other Rules), but the effects of anything will not permanently effect anything.

-^You cannot change a Toons Object, turn them into an Object, or make an SW!Toon act suddenly. So don’t go “Sprout punches Dandy and ties him to the ceiling” or steal control of an SW!Character.

-No adding to the AU Lore, or making a character bring up nonexistent larger plot-points—because then you’re kind of painting on another persons canvas. (I do not mean this to be rude towards anyone, just something I felt I should note.)

-MAGIC ANONS Can effect up to 3 Asks IF the effect changes a lot, and 5 if it’s a more minor change. (Or infinite if it’s just a Gift/Object)

-^IF you want to effect things longer, you could try and manipulate convince a Toon to do something that will be of interest to them… 👀

-This is a Shelly’s World AU/Post Infection AU!

-I might also call it the “Reformed” or “Rebooted” AU? I’m still deciding… Also, “Rebooted” might be taken- IDK TAKE IT WITH SALT I guess.

-In the present, “Shelly’s World” is the replacement Show while they rework the old “Dandy’s World” Episodes!: With Shelly Starring in it, her show is a mix of Education and Entertainment! Meaning Finn, and a few of my OC’s, help teach things depending on what the Episode is about. (I am still deciding who else Co-Stars with her)

-Shelly, Sprout (of course), Astro, Vee, Pebble and Dandy are all around… (Also Bobette, but this isn’t about her :>)

-After the Ichor-Infection was cured, some (*few) Toons are still conflicted having Dandy back again…

-Most of the Toons have Clones, which have to wear tags with their Clone Number so they aren’t confused for Original Toons… They are not referred to as Clones in front of Visitors; they are called “Cousin’s” or “Siblings” instead. Some Clones have their own unique names and styles, others haven’t found one yet.

I’m ranting a little about my own comic planning and writing about the Castlevania games :)!!!

Cutting this here because it will likely be long!

So—

I have a bit of progress on the CoD Trevor and Julia comic! I haven’t gotten to Julia yet, but I’m drawing the conversation Trevor has with Isaac while being stabbed just to set up everything, warm up, and figure out how I want to be drawing panels and poses and such. I’m sharing the WIP for now mostly cause I drew a couple head angles I’m usually pretty terrible at and they came out nice :3. Idk, I need to finish more of it until I figure out whether or not I’m digitizing and coloring it. Either way I’ve dedicated a handful of pages to it.

Anyway— in this comic my main goal is to show how Julia managed to save Trevor because 1. It’s not shown in game and 2. God damn she must be a good healer to have saved him at all ∑(ﾟДﾟ). Where Trevor gets stabbed is not a great spot to get stabbed in (I’ll probably make a separate post ranting about that lol), so I’m just very curious as to how I’m going to depict her saving him from the castle and then actually doing the doctoring/magic part. It’s genuinely such a shame that this doesn’t get a cutscene of its own because I really want to see these two interact with each other and in general just more of Julia.

So anyway that one I can’t talk about too much more or else I’ll be spoiling all of it X,,,,D.

In other writing and comic idea news though— I think I’ve figured out the route I’m going with when writing Selena :3. It kinda came to me while I was playing Chronicles recently and also through a conversation with my sister about it! So I have some good ideas of how characters will be written now, I just have to think about outlining all of the sections better and writing out scripts for it and then I’ll be good to go ahead on the whole CV1-CV2 comic X3!

Well, as long as uh art block and stress and general life will allow it 💀.

Other things I have ideas for are a lot of random character interactions, very headcanon-y stuff, and the two with mainly OCs, though these will probably be either random shorts for now or will be on the back burner for other projects. The 1950s movie set story in particular though has a lot more ideas for as of right now, including new side characters and such… tbh I almost want to make this an RPG Maker fangame project, but I don’t have the skills for that quite yet.

And uh that’s kinda just the whole update! It’s a bit shorter than I expected so here’s some doodles :3

First is just practice of drawing Selena in general, second is designs of Simon and Selena as kids, approximately like 12-13 ish. Okie bye!

Always the side characters (Twist au)

Note: Lol, I finally decided to post the au in which all of my silly little twist ocs are canon and the rest will be in its blog, but here! Have the very pretty intro. Also, i am not planning on sticking to canon. It's my au, i get to do what ever i want, so be prepared. (Also all of this is just for fun and not fleshed out yet. I wrote this as if I was describing a movie trailer.

Intro one: Always the side characters

"As far as I can remember, I was always left behind." Image cutting to multiple pictures, with blurry people talking to each other. Yuna stands far behind them. "Maybe i wouldn't have minded that much if the reason hadn't been my twin." It starts colouring the pictures with Yuu in the middle and people around them. Yuna starts getting blacked out.

"For years and years I was the second fiddle, it didn't matter what I did... Yuu did it better." It cuts to Yuna having an A, but Yuu having an A+ and getting more praise from the parents. Yuna plays the Trombone beautifully, but you can't hear her cause Yuu is the main theme and she just the brass. It continues on and on.

"After a while I had enough of being the side character in someone else's life." Scene cuts to Yuu and Yuna fighting.

"You have to tell me what's wrong! I can't help you if you aren't going to tell me what the problem is." Yuu tries to pull Yuna back, but she slaps their hand away. "I don't need your help okay? I want to do things on my own. WHY CAN'T I PERSUE ART ON MY OWN?"

Yuu is taken aback by this outburst. "W-what? But I thought you would like it if we did the courses together. We are twins-"

Yuna turns around and stares at them angrily. "I never asked you to join! I wanted to do this on my own, you-you just burst into my hobbies like their your own. And what do you mean with TWINS?" Yunas shoulders stiff and she clenched her fists. "Us being twins doesn't mean we have to do everything together."

Yuu is shocked and takes two steps back, letting Yuna leave. "After that day, everything changed." Yuna sees a carriage on the road and is forced to enter it, the scene fades to black.

"Hello~" There is a voice calling her awake and Yuna blinks and opens her eyes. It cuts to a girl with red eyes and curly red hair leaning over her, smiling.

"HUH?"

"Good evening! I hope you feel alright." The girl turns her head to the side, her hair has a few rainbow streaks. "Mrs. YZME? The students awake."

Cut to the vice headmistress showing Yuna around school. "Suddenly I was in a completely different world, in a school for people with magic.... without magic."

( insert dorm sorting ceremony and cut to a dirty dorm being revealed)

"Ew" Yuna looks around in disgust. Camera swings to a platypus shrugging. "Oh I forgot to mention, I also have a roommate. The great Phil, he is lazy but very nice."

The two are seen fighting over a blanket till a knock stops them. "I have to study for a whole new world, but luckily Madelyne and the dees are there for me."

Madelyne proudly showing off her second year mark, before it cuts to a pair of twins one very hyper and one almost emotionless.

"I have adapted to my new life quickly." It cuts to a few silly scenes and school stuff until the atmosphere gets eerie.

"But it doesn't stop the fact that this school has a terrible secrets." It cuts to Overblots, a hall of masks, ghosts, a secret library door opening and closing.

"And I am dead set on saving my friends and protecting what's mine."

There is a long line with all characters (shadowed) exept for Yuna in the front and the twins to each of her sides.

Intro: NCR meets FTA

It cuts to Yuu looking at a picture. "I thought at first it wasn't possible." Dramatic music and a zoom in on Yuna in a Feetale academy uniform, the people she is with get blurred away. "She shouldn't be here, my precious little twin."

Cut to Yuu slamming their fist on the table. "What do you know about this school!?" Cut to some of the housewardens. Most look confused except for Riddle, Kalim, Azul and Leona.

First interview with Riddle. "I don't know much about this school only that a former..... friend... of mine attends this academy."

Cut to Azul. "Well a classmate who I know is very close to Rielle is attending this school, but there isn't more to know."

Cut to Leona: "Huh? Why are you asking me about those sleazebags?" Ruggie chimes in: "Oh isn't this the school rumoured to be filled with RSA's lap dogs?"

Cut to Kalim, who seems genuinely uncomfortable/sad: "A friend of mine attends this school, along with a friend of Jamil's. As far as I know they were forced to cut off contact after Geena and Peggy were forced to....."

Next skip to Ramshackle being covered in red yarn, with yuu connecting storys and pictures but sighing frustrated. "THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT THIS SCHOOL!"

It cuts to Yuu searching through the internet but there being nothing, not even interviews of former students. "I have to see if my twin is there, no matter what it takes. But how do I get to the school when there is this little info on them?"

Dramatic framing of a tournament that takes part between all schools at the end if the year. "Yes, I have to make this school win this, forcing them into the spotlight!"

OCtober 2024 day 23: community

A yapping essay under the cut, I will talk science so you have been warned.

Now before I ramble about science I'm just gonna talk about the art for a bit. I did use a reference for this because I'm not insane and drawing the lineart with it was ... alright I would say. I actually looked through my own pictures and my uni website first in case I could find something as a ref but no dice so I needed to look it up anyways. I think the most difficult lineart to draw was the fucking pipettes... I need everyone to know that all the lab equipment (except maybe the blue regant holder) is a simplification of what it actually looks like because by god I could not replicate the real thing with my current skill set. I know most people will not give a fuck but I do so it needed to be said.

Otherwise colouring went okay and rendering wasn't extremely tedious. I noticed that I actually really like rendering blond hair, years ago I found this hack where you use red for the shadows and turn the opacity down and it works so well every time, I'm a bit obsessed tbh. I need to give more of my OCs blond hair lmao.

Okay enough about art let's talk science! Honestly this is really just me explaining science stuff, so feel free to skip because this can get long.

As I mentioned above I drew Anemone doing qPCR and I chose qPCR because her focus is genetic research. So basically she looks into the human genome (entire set of human genes) to see how it correlates to the Pallid Flame.

qPCR stands for quantitative polymerase chain reaction or real time polymerase chain reaction (RTpcr) and it's a valuable tool for analysing stuff down to genetic aka DNA level. You might have learnt about PCR in school but if not or if you've forgotten: PCR is the amplification of a specific gene aka you take one specific part of someone's DNA and replicate it a bunch of times. This is useful if you want to proof if a specific gene is present in the DNA you are analysing. Now qPCR also does the DNA amplification but as it already implies with the name it also counts how much the gene was amplified. You can use qPCR in many applications for example I used this method in my thesis to test if skin related genes are upregulated (higher gene expression aka genes are more activated? <- me trying to simplify genetics I'm not sure if this is the correct term of phrase) or down regulated (lower gene expression) when I put mast cells in my skin models. It gives you insight how certain factors affect cells on DNA level and since it will give you number at the end you can do statistics which is what everyone will really care about. I hope this explanation was at least somehow understandable if anyone has any questions I can talk more about this no prob 🫡

In fact I will talk more about it just... less why you do qPCR but more on how you do it. Because the thing is with this method... You need to pipette, you need to pipette A LOT. And honestly I'm really not a fan because you need to be so exact with this pipetting since each mistake you make stacks up and shows in your data at the end. It's very frustrating especially because there are a lot of steps where you can make mistakes and you need to be fully concentrated the entire time. I... I would say I'm good at my job but I really don't like this part of it because it grates on my nerves. But I think Anemone would be good at it, it's something repetitive that requires a steady hand and patience. Normally post Docs and even some PhD students let assisstants handle this job but I'd like to imagine that Anemone likes doing small things occasionally. Maybe not the entire process (there's a lot of prep work required for qPCR) but the last few steps she can take over, just for a change of pace.

“Alright! They got the lava cookies and fondue too. Do you want the cheese one or the chocolate one?” Zena asked.

“I don’t mind either way. Honestly, for me, the most important part of a fondue is the fruit selection.” Danua replied.

“Ok. I'll get the chocolate one, then.” Zena replied, passing their order ahead through the phone. Getting all of Kelvin Town's signature snacks was very important. After all, they were having a movie night!

“Well, why did you want to catch Golett in the first place, then?”

Danua froze. Her free hand fidgeted half-twirling, half–tugging on one of her longer strands of hair, dodging eye contact as he did so. Then, she forced the words out. “To tell the truth… I really like that sort of empowered guardians automatons a-and… old school anime stuff.”

“Really? Most of the stuff I watch is pretty recent, to be honest.” Zena said. “Do you have any recommendations for me to watch?”

Danua’s eyes lit up.

“Huh. So these are rice crackers. Can’t say I expected that.” Zena said, holding one of the Lava Cookies. Taking it to her mouth, she eagerly bit upon the nori-wrapped food. “They’re certainly tasty, though!”

“I think it's one of those things that changed names as time went by.” The other girl suggested.

“I see. Those kinds of happenings are common enough, right? Oh, did you get the movie set up?” She asked.

“Yes. I think it'll work fine.” Danua replied, her Holocaster transmitting the movie’s box art to the television, showing a brown-haired girl riding a Mantine-like machine with a Pachirisu in her shoulder. “Are you ready?”

“Yeah, let's go!”

Zena grabbed her fork, stabbing a strawberry from the fondue’s kit and dipping it in the chocolate, stirring it inside the pot until it was infinitely covered in the creamy melted delight. The girl ate the piece of fruit in a single bite, making sure not to let anything fall on her bed, letting out contented noises as the bitter and sweet layers of dark brown and red mixed together within her mouth.

The movie had only just begun, the blond paying full attention through the opening scenes while the brunette carefully stole glances at her while doing her rewatch. Shieldon and one of Danua’s Pumpkaboo were let out of their Pokéballs, sometimes playing around, sometimes joining their trainers on the experience.

“Whoa… I can't believe everything that is floating around in this scene are spores.” Zena pointed out, while trying to remember something at the back of her mind. “Do you have to deal with those a lot in the Gym?”

“Not that many, myself. Shiinotic doesn't know the move yet, after all. But some of the other trainers fight an uphill battle whenever their Pokémon are a bit grumpy.”

“I see. Do your other Pokémon give you any trouble?”

“Well… I am responsible for most, if not all Pumpkaboo and Phantump in the Gym and they have a unique sense of humor, to say the least. But they never hurt me, even once.” She said. “I mostly just keep them from playing pranks on others. They can be a bit of a handful, in that regard, but most of them know when their playing around is too much, by now.”

“Got it. Well, every Pokémon is different, at the end of the day!”

“Yes. And each needs their own care.”

She nodded, then realized. “Oh, you haven't tried out the grapes yet, have you?”

“I don't think so, actually.”

“Got it!” Zena replied, picking one of the little fruits and coating them in chocolate. “Open wide!”

Though a bit surprised, Danua complied, pushing her hair off her face and eating the piece of food offered to her. Humming in appreciation, she commented. “This is very good chocolate, is it not?”

“It is!”

“Oh! The airships!” Zena commented, trying to find her words. “I played this game last year that had some just like this one!”

Danua tried her best to keep a straight face, but she couldn't avoid a smile showing up. “Hehe, a lot of things took inspiration from this movie. This was one of the first few movies I watched, so, from my end, I get to feel happy when I realize I’m seeing something made by a person who liked the same things I did.”

“I see. I'm only watching it now, so I guess I'm going the other way around. It feels nice to watch this and learn from where the idea I was so impressed by came from.” The blonde replied. “There is a lot we can learn from the past, huh?”

“Yes. It's history, it's people, it's promises… it's important to remember them, I think.”

The movie’s climax kept on growing, Zena’s unwavering attention following every second. Until a moment changed her energy from awestruck to thoughtful, that is.

“This moment… it's kinda like Geosenge a couple years back, isn't it?”

Danua’s eyes widened upon hearing that association, but she kept her composure. “It is a bit, isn't it? When people are desperate, they go to extreme measures.”

The girl thought about that as the movie’s great weapon decomposed in front of them, while the antagonist held on to her pride no matter what. Then, she looked at Shieldon and Pumpkaboo, which, after playing for quite a while, now peacefully napped together.

“We have to be very careful with how we make use of the past, don't we?” Zena asked.

“Yes. We do.” The Gym Trainer replied. “But I don't think doing so is bad. They’re the foundation that inspires us to move forwards, after all. There will always be people who look at it and think they can get a weapon or profit out of it. But that doesn’t make it bad. I think it is just a matter of giving it due respect.”

“Yeah. And if the past comes to us, we must make sure it lives the best present possible!” Zena added. “This world and its histories alike… I’ll help preserve as much of it as I can!”

Whew. Today had been a handful, had it not? Myldrid was glad he was not yet too old to go around doing all this spelunking, at the very least.

By now, the girls probably had finished settling down in their rooms. They would have a peaceful night of sleep, if nothing else. As for him…

“Excuse me, miss. Are the Springs still open?”

“Of course, sir! You still have a couple hours if you wanna try them out!”

Fufufufu. It had been a long time since he last had the opportunity to do this, after all. Gotta make the best of it~!

Directing himself to the male side of the baths, Myldrid carefully removed his clothes. The shirt was unbuttoned and put aside, shoes and socks were stored in the proper location, pants following suit, legs and arms stretching and waking up as they got free from constraints. With only a bath towel on him now, the Professor adjusted his hair, making sure to change the ponytail to an updo more compact for what he was about to do.

His muscles gleamed from the indoor lightning and regular exercise, nevermind the hike he did that day. He wasn't too vain or anything, but it was nice to see he kept in shape. Those dance lessons helped more than just Lucan, that was for sure.

Going to the outdoor, open spring, Myldrid appreciated the beauty of the starlit view amidst the rocky mountains of the region. The moon reflected into the water, showcasing pure serenity and peace of mind.

The man calmly dipped his feet into the bath, pleased with the water’s warm, comfortable temperature. Then slowly, steadily entering, he savored the feeling of the hot water enveloping his legs, torso, and arms, blessed respite at the end of an eventful day.

A nighttime Hot Springs bath, all by himself, under the moonlit sky. Such were the blessings of adult life.

Hum... he felt like he needed just one more thing. He wouldn't entertain alcohol right now, but-

Ah. One of the Hot Spring's staff members came to check on him. Perfect. Turning around, Myldrid put both of his arms at the rocky edge of the springs, head resting on them as he looked at the server.

"Hey there. Could you get me a drink?"

2023 art summary + thoughts on my own art progress under the cut!!

so i've been doing this for 10 years :P

i'm not posting these pics in high quality, they're somewhere on the internet if you want to scavenge for a bit. i didn't start taking art seriously until late 2015 and i honestly don't like looking back at old drawings. i still like my 2022 art summary but it wasn't until this year that i'm proud of all my finished artworks.

my art journey is complicated. i'm not one of those artists who can say they've been drawing for all their lifes. i used to trace pokémon in my school agendas but that was it. around 2013, a couple of friends invited me to their Skype server where we used to draw each other's ocs and make art memes and stuff - it was fun and cringe in the most positive way i can say it :] i didn't know shit about art and i took pride in drawing on MS Paint with a mouse just because it was hard.

when i was 15 yo i got into Love Live! and i decided to get better at art because i didn't want lesbian fanart to be made only by creepy cishet men. at some point i watched this video from Sycra and it rewired my brain. i understood that i needed to actually practise and understand what i was doing, and that i wasn't going to improve just by observing. its follow-up video also helped me a lot, i remember watching it on the day it was posted jskhfdjdfd.

and so fast forward until 2021 approx. i spent all of those years practising drawing in my traditional sketchbooks, so my improvement was steady. the only problem, and in retrospective i see it as a Big Problem, is that i was grinding mindlessly. by that i mean that i copied artists i liked and i drew again and again stuff i was bad at, but i didn't think too deeply about it or analysed my own art to look for faster ways to improve it. i also don't take feedback well so i didn't ask for it either, which further slowed down my progress.

on top of it, that just made me better at drawing, not at illustration. i firmly believe that a good drawing is hard to ruin but i could have made my illustrations way more interesting if i had started going wild with colors and effects way earlier. i don't exactly regret my choices because at the end of the day it's just my hobby, and i've been praised for drawing a lot and for challenging myself to practise drawing traditionally, so i want this to be read as introspection rather than complaints!!

the reason why 2021 was a big change in my art is because in november i did this monstrosity:

i got an Android tablet to be able to draw in class and took the challenge alongside my friend Nico, who also did their own Huevember. hola si estás leyendo esto Nico, aunque lo dudo :) i can't say that any of the drawings made me better at anatomy, or composition, or colors. i can't say that they solidified my knowledge, either. but they planted a seed in my brain that would fully bloom in late 2022, which is the seed of hating the finished result of some pieces so much that i forced myself to improve.

everyone has their own motivation to get better at art and i've always thought that mine was a healthy one (i want to draw more lesbians, that's all). however, i've had a very solid 2023 and now i don't cringe at any of my pieces, plus i can notice any mistakes they have without wanting to delete them from existence - and i could only get there because at the end of 2022 i told myself i wouldn't make any more ugly illustrations. like, period. i didn't want to get anxious every time i had to look back on my own art.

i also learned that no ammount of compliments from others would magically make me like a piece i see as mid at best. of course, i appreciate every single nice comment i get (genuinely, i get very happy knowing that other people love my work), but gratitude doesn't fix a skill issue.

so, late 2022, many things happened. first i got cancelled on twitter over a drawing of my beloved mizuki from project sekai (this info will be relevant later). then i spent a whole month doing this other monstrosity that is to this day the best thing i've ever done. i haven't peaked it (yet):

this comic actually made me improve and solidify my skills. it wasn't a class assignment, or a collaboration, or anything more than a headcanon i shared with a friend - it was pure brainrot over Revue Starlight and it made me put all my cunt into it. this was also the point at which i started filling in blacks with the bucket tool instead of picking a very dark color, which is a big part of my current style :3

the thing about people cancelling me is that i had to distance myself from fandoms and eventually change accunts, which also affected how i perceived my own art. even if i draw for myself, at the end of the day i still draw characters that are loved by many people, so i disabled comments and stopped interacting with other artists of my fandom circles. that led me to go on hiatus at the start of 2023, knowing that it was time for a fresh start (my art accounts were 5 years old anyway).

that period of time made me think a lot about my finished pieces. since i wouldn't post them until i had a new account, i would stare at them for longer than ever or make small changes even if days had already passed. letting my mind rest from illustrations i had been working on and knowing i could change them whenever i wanted was a big step forward.

i realised that for the past years i had been in a hurry to post my drawings as soon as i was done with them instead of appreciating them. that was a turning point for my mindset. this was also past the time i decided to stop making ugly art, but i hadn't really taken any measures to get better. so i changed the wording of the challenge: i can make ugly art but i can't post it if i don't like it.

it doesn't sound epic, but for some reason it worked. every time i was in the middle of making a drawing that looked kind of ugly, i changed it until it looked right. not perfect, but good enough to avoid cringing in the future. some times i had to redraw it from scratch with a more interesting pose. some times i needed to add a background or a graphic element to make the characters pop. and somewhere on that period, i went wild with colors and effects, and a lot of times that saved a piece that would otherwise be boring.

i have to thank Revolutionary Girl Utena and Revue Starlight for making me experiment a lot during my hiatus. both pieces of media, one being the daugher of the other, give artists so many visual metaphors and interesting topics to work with. the revstar brainrot had been there since the junnana comic, but rgu was something i had been meaning to rewatch for a couple of years and it hit me like a fucking train. it also made me create one of the comics i'm the most proud about:

then i got into homestuck and my art got. well. stuck!! >D< but it was okay because i wasn't making ugly drawings anymore. i was putting into practise a lot of things i had been learning or experimenting with, especially regarding colors and character interactions. and the yuri was delicious hmmmmmmm.

the rest of 2023 was very linear in terms of art but not so much in terms of fandoms (?). which is fine, honestly, but i was also glad to get back into Fire Emblem: Three Houses in late that year because when i first got into it in 2019 i didn't have the skill to draw everything i wanted to draw. and i still haven't drawn all the yuri scenarios that i've been cooking in my mind, but i have until forever to do it!!

so for 2024 i want to study some stuff i feel i'm still lacking in. i think i've always had a good eye for composition, but i've never actually pushed it in my finished illustrations - they depend a lot on the poses because i've always been prioritising drawing over everything else. that needs to change this year.

i also want to get better at drawing characters from extreme angles. i've always felt like my poses are a bit flat and i think i can study photos taken with wide angle lenses to improve at that.

and of course i still want to draw faster, which is something i've always struggled with. i think i have a good rhythm of "producing" art (excuse me for the poor wording), but i'm still too slow for the kind of artstyle i want to achieve, which includes having a looser lineart and less details in irrelevant areas of the drawings. i think that overdoing the lineart actually hurts my illustrations, because everything ends up pulling the viewer's attention with the same energy. i also think messy artstyles are neat.

i promise i'm not crazy and i don't hate what i do. in fact, it's precisely because this year i managed to make some pieces with that kind of feel that i know where i want to aim. special mention to the junnana comic because i haven't been able to replicate that lineart ever since.

as for the stuff i like about my current artstyle, i definitely want to keep the way i color!! and by that i mean the method i have for applying filters that make my colors pop. i could maybe play more with textures too.

i also like the way i depict intimacy, and people have praised it too. thank you for noticing. it's the yearning that's doing it, not me. but i don't think i'll ever change the content (?) of my art, i eat breathe and speak in yuri. if anything, there are still some ways of conveying feelings that i haven't been able to draw because i lack the skill to do so, but i'll keep trying ;)

i honestly didn't expect this post to be this long. i've been writing for hours now and i'm not sure my thoughts are coherent for anyone that isn't me. i also can't grasp the idea that some people know me from fanart i did in 2016 while others started following me last month, time is wild and it's an extra dimension of complexity that i don't know how to account for when i write stuff like this.

but again, as i do with art, i've written this for myself. it's been nice to put my thoughts in order. i think i've only talked about art in depth with like 5 people and it's always been in casual conversation. no creo que estéis leyendo pero Nahia y Henar os amo y he aprendido mucho de vosotras.

Since i gained some kinda following (70 of you guys now, that's insane 🤯) I'll have to drop a tiny lil update to my blog...

Big ass update thingy.

Now it's already been awhile since I started this blog, and let's just say -- I didn't quite think this through the moment I posted for the first time on here. So yeah I took some time to think and here's the deal:

I am Alair Mena, a comic artist and a writer

and this blog is meant for: - helping other writers achieve their writing dreams - achieve my own writing dream and build a fandom for my upcoming comic! However, it's not running away. I don't have to focus on building the community asap, as it will gradually form by itself, just like all 60 of you have showed me. I want to chill, to help all of you on your projects as well. Go around, give writing advice to more people, draw more of other people's OCs. The fun stuff, yknow. There's plenty of time to get famous 😌

YAY MY OCS ibuki is my female oc and yoltzin is my male one (I have a non binary one I just have to draw them-) and they are both in the same universe (my personal universe so it’s just in my not any others) and they both personally know each other as friends and ibuki is a idol so she sings and dances with her two brothers as a idol group and yoltzin as you know is a god of the universe and he’s married to his husband alter (another god of the universe) and has a son named Ashton I’ll draw alter and Ashton soon and I’ll try to draw ibuki’s brothers as well

Introducing my Five Nights At Freddy's AU!!!

This is something that I have wanted to do for a while but I have not been able to muster up the courage for multiple reasons. These reasons include: I'm not an artist, moreso a writer. I feel that if I ever uploaded anything onto Tumblr involving a Fnaf AU that never had any sort of art, I would get ignored or even shat on because of it. I don't know why, might just be the anxiety in me (I also happen to be sick right now so that doesn't help either). I also felt that my ideas would be often criticized or straight up ignored by most around here. I grew up in a more simpler time of the Fnaf community, where AU's meant that something crazy needed to happen meanwhile everyone here just does Alive AU's and treats these characters like they are their own OC's. I don't. Thirdly, a recent post in the past might set off red flags, especially the recent sentence. This is not going to be your coffee shop Alive AU like most people. I don't like Alive AU's, in fact I kinda detest them if I'm being honest. If you know me on Discord (only close friends do) then this AU might not be super interesting and might be the same stuff I already do. But no one really knows me on Tumblr and a lot of people are not close friends with me, so this is a way to give back to the Five Nights At Freddy's franchise, a franchise I hold so dear to my heart.

Five Nights At Freddy's has been with me since I was nine years old talking about it in the cafeteria of my school, talking about what Fnaf 2 would be like, and playing it on the god awful mobile phone version. I still remember my IPod having the old Fnaf 3 mobile port on it before it got wiped, good times. For a while now, I have always been scared about going public with my works. Taking small steps to try and get myself out there as a writer and such, and I feel like this is a bit of a step in the right direction. Maybe a giant step but a step nonetheless. I want to share my AU with the world and with a fandom I have very close ties with and I still do even when I'm 19. Fnaf even helped me with gender identity and such (thank you Vanessa Fnaf) and while I did take a crack at people who make Alive AU's, I still enjoy them when they are done in a fun and interesting way. And yes, I still love those kids, they are so silly. This AU is a loveletter to the franchise and while I don't want to reveal the name yet, I can't just not tell you what it will entail.

For all you remnant and agony lovers, that stuff is staying. I love the concept of remnant and agony and I think I can use not just agony, but all emotions in an interesting way to make it affect remnant as well.

Actual development to not just human characters, but animatronic characters as well. I know, crazy right? There's lore to be had for the animatronics as well to make their development just as interesting as your favorite silly children and your mass murderers. Also yes, just like other AU's, the cast will have a large diversity. Some characters will be LGBTQ+, some will be black, some will be Asian, some will be autistic, the whole nine yards. Some will be straight and white, I know, horrifying but the cast will still be diverse.

All games are canon! Yeah that's right, every game is canon in some way shape or form, even games like Freddy in Space 3 and Fury's Rage. Five Nights At Freddy's 1-4, Five Nights At Freddy's Sister Location, Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, Ultimate Custom Night, Help Wanted 1 and 2, Special Delivery, Security Breach and Ruin, and Secret Of The Mimic. Fazbear Fanverse Games are also canon as well, aside from Flumpty's for very obvious reasons. Everything has been worked out to make sure these games do not overlap each other in any way shape or form and that they all are smoothly and coherently connected to one another. Now in terms of books, the only one that will be canon is The Week Before. This may change and there will be a post about it if so, but as of right now, only The Week Before is canon. The movie, Fazbear Frights, or Tales From The PizzaPlex, is not canon.

Returning characters and brand new ones!! That's right, you will see all the familiar faces, William Afton, Henry Emily, Fritz Smith, Jeremy Fitzgerald, everyone you know and love will be here. There will also be brand new faces! OC's will be here and may sometimes be important but will also probably sometimes not be important. It really depends on the role of the character, can't wait for you to meet all of them, returning and old : D.

References up the ass. Many such references to many popular characters from the books, the movies, and even other fangames not apart of the Fazbear Fanverse. If you want to see some TRTF references, this AU is for you. Do you want to see Wario's Fast Food Factory from Five Nights At Wario's? You can! Do you want to see Dormitabis characters be shown and talked about? I am the only one who probably cares about it but yes!!!!

AU posts will hopefully feature art and even large stories! I am excited to share this AU with you... when I feel better and I'm not sick. Hope you all are excited!!! : D

Sparky and Static both share the last name ”Inazuma”. I doubt this is a coincidence to Genshin Impact’s Inazuma, cuz you draw Genshin stuff sometimes. But it leads me to make some theories/speculations or smth similar.

Sparky and Static are “mirrors” to Ei/her puppet “The Shogun” and Makoto. Sparky and Shogun are both aggressive in their own ways, and both share a (somewhat) callous personality. But unlike Shogun, who can’t think for herself, Sparky is more than aware of what he does because he’s. well. human… atleast somewhat??? You also mentioned that the Creature’s bite also worsened Sparky’s attitude, this lowkey mirrors the Fatui’s influence on the Shogun but thats just me.

Meanwhile, there’s Static and the actual Ei and/or Makoto depending on how you see it. I personally see it as a mix of both but ehhhhhh. Makoto is said to have “cherished each moment within time and space.”, reflecting Static’s love and care for everyone in the group. That’s literally all I can point out because. MAKOTO IS DEAD.

Now, lemme get onto the *fun* part :3

I straight up believe Static is gonna die one way or another in the story. My main theory is that it’s gonna be via the Creature. But yknoooow. Perhaps as a starting point for something like Spark’s character development? I have a feeling he won’t be a jerk forever lol.

I felt hesitant posting this cuz I am straight up just YAPPING. But. Uh. Yeah.

I cracked the code my fellow gamers, Ei and Yae are Sparky and Static’s moms guys TRUST!!!!!! /JJJJJJ

So for firstly

I went with the name Inazuma when i conceptualized the characters back in around 2014, cause since Sparky and Static are japanese so i figured to give them a last name that was fitting since most of OC's names are puns, just relating to personality or their powers, so i just used the japanese word for lightning since it's Sparky elemental power and Static's his brother so they share a last name.

Secondly, I can definitely see that kind of comparison. Sparky is indeed a human, is just the Creature bite gave some of her virus in Sparky, so he's basically a cross between a normal human and a slow mutating Creature (which you can see happen in arts like these where his veins start to glow looking like "cracks" and his eyes turn red and sharp teeth)

And for thirdly, While Static does not die, he does come CLOSE to actually dying, mostly from protecting his brother who, while he can brush off alot of pain and can heal from nearly all fatal blows, is still his baby brother so he wants to be the one protect him. Luckily, Hyrdo had the idea of using one of the meteorite shards (which is what gave the characters their elemental powers) to save Static from blood loss, since it will give him a healing factor and allow him to join the team.

Lastly, while that is an interesting turning point, Static has been one of the few characters Sparky is nicer (more tolerable towards) at the initial start of the series, next to his parents. Its more people not connected to his immediate family he's more inclined to be rude and aggressive towards. However there is a soon similar event that leads to Sparky needing his big wake up call, but not before another tragedy takes place.
